Volunteering
Story of Regina
A heartwarming and fulfilling experience is every single of my beloved volunteering stays at Mwema Children Centre. The children and staff made me feel welcomed and loved from the first minutes on and it just felt like home. Working with children and staff while performing workshops, spending time with children, teaching experiences and just playing is filling me with deep sense of joy. I am so grateful to return to my Mwema family every year and to feel that the impact of every single volunteer here at the children centre – no matter the age – is deep and long lasting. The happy voices of children and staff singing and laughing became my new favourite music – a sound that warms my soul.
Story of Nicolas
Working especially with the boys here at Mwema left a deep impact on my heart. I have learned so much from them every day during my stay as a volunteer. These wonderful Mwema souls touched me deeply and I found so many examples in these boys and girls. So much courage and strength I discovered in all their stories, I am deeply impressed. So many friendships developed. The big smiles and great hearts here at Mwema are unforgettable to me and I hope to be back one day.
Story of Elenora
My experience at the Mwema Children Centre has been one of a kind and definitely changed my life in a way I cannot put into words. Meeting all these kind-hearted, dedicated and full-of-life people opened my eyes and filled my heart with deep love and gratitude. Working with the children on their goals and dreams, and witnessing their positive outlook on life, has been a true blessing and I definitely learned a lot from them too.
Story of Elsa
It is much easier to turn a blind eye to things that happen outside of one’s own country, which is exactly why I consider the experience at Mwema Children Centre a true blessing. It is so important to give a helping hand to others, especially those who are not fortunate enough to be born into a family that can take care of their children. Children’s education and rights must be the pillar of any community. Volunteering at Mwema Children Centre and meeting so many wonderful people who work together for this cause and make a great contribution has strengthened my resolve to continue to work for this cause.
Story of Andi
Volunteering at Mwema was an incredibly rewarding experience. One of the reason’s I wanted to volunteer at Mwema Children Centre was to support the incredible staff in different areas from technical issues, outside communications and improving administrative processes. During our stay, we successfully determined on how to optimise the resources available at the Centre. The volunteer experience gave me the opportunity to see and experience social work and educating outside of my own world. Volunteering at Mwema will leave you waking up with a real sense of purpose. One of the best things at Mwema is that they never treat you like a volunteer but always like a family members!
Story of Lise
It’s not easy trying to find the right words to describe the amazing experience I had volunteering at Mwema Children Centre. I felt so welcome and appreciated for my input and benefited from the mutual exchange of ideas. What impressed me most was the staff’s attitudes: You won’t find such kind hearted and compassionate individuals working towards shared ideals and a common goal easily anywhere else! I’d love to support and come back to Mwema in the future since I’m sure there’ll be so much development and positive change coming!
